Stimulated by the pop culture of taking selfies, Liu combines photography, painting, and found objects to reflect on the shifting boundaries between individual and society. The commonplace elements, such as keyboards, embroideries, acupuncture needles, and bullet cases, are suggestive of the overwhelming information and traditional cultures that surround her. While external influences are internalized and translated into her behaviors, her body is simultaneously a battleground where she constantly seeks to reconstruct her own identity just like everyone else does.

“自拍系列”借用时下流行的自拍语言，结合摄影、绘画与生活物品，反映个人与社会之间辩证的关系和界限。日常中的元素，如刺绣、针灸、键盘、子弹壳等，暗指混杂着海量信息和传统文化的世界。身体如同战场，外界影响和社会期待不断被内化，影响着每个人心理活动和行为方式。与此同时，每个人也在试图重新塑造自己的身份。
