Wa Liu (b. 1994) is an interdisciplinary artist working across video, painting, interactive installations and VR. She holds a B.A. in Anthropology and Art from Yale University with distinction and an M.S. in Art, Culture and Technology from MIT. Her research-driven, experiential artworks explore the porous boundaries and power dynamics between humans, nature and technology. She integrates multispecies ethnography, global history and the pressing issues of the Anthropocene into riveting, multi-sensory experiences. Grounded in field research, her videos examine how human ambitions, military technologies and geopolitics reshape our planet and ourselves. Her suspenseful, mystical paintings use luminous colors and vibrant momentum to engage with the agency of nonhumans as they navigate human-altered landscapes. Her neuroscience-informed interactive installations question how technology redefines agency by quantifying and manipulating emotions and desires.
Her major solo shows include MADLANDS (Long Museum, Shanghai, 2024), Late Night Savage (Cc Foundation, Shanghai, 2021), Glimpse: a passing look (Sabsay Gallery, Copenhagen, 2018). She received the International Emmy Awards Young Creatives Award, Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia and China Lists, Porsche’s Young Chinese Artist of the Year, Robb Report’s Young Artist of the Year, etc. Her works are in the permanent collections of Long Museum, Guangdong Museum of Art, and others, and have been exhibited globally at Busan Biennale, Guangzhou Triennial, MIT Museum, UCCA Center for Contemporary Art, TANK Shanghai, Minsheng Art Museum, etc.

刘娃（1994年）是一位跨学科艺术家，媒介涵盖影像、绘画、交互装置与虚拟现实。她在耶鲁大学获得人类学与艺术双专业荣誉学士学位，在麻省理工学院获得艺术文化与科技硕士学位。她研究性与体验式的多元创作，探究人类、自然与科技之间相互渗透的边界和权力关系。她将多物种民族志、世界史与人类世的紧迫议题融汇为引人入胜的多感官体验。她的影像根植于田野调查，探究人类野心、军事科技和地缘政治如何重塑地球与人类自身。她的绘画极具悬念与神秘感，色彩奇异诡谲且动势迅猛，聚焦非人类物种在被人类改造的环境中展现的能动性和生存状态。她基于神经科学的交互装置探讨了技术如何在量化和操控人类情感与欲望的过程中，重新定义了能动性。
